20% Project

My progress will be evaluated by the number of kids I have piqued an interest in bowling to. At this time, I have opened the eyes of at least three kids. They show a genuine interest in what I am coaching them. Watching them bowl, it shows that they have picked up on different points that have helped their game.
I wish I could continue to help these kids, but with the semester coming to a close I lose my opportunity to go to Lovell and help. In second semester I may try looking into scheduling a work experience class so I can continue to travel to Lovell and help these kids.

Communism vs Socialism

Communism provides everyone an equal share of the grand total. Everyone gets the same chances and what you are good at is what you are going into whether you like it or not. There is no private option for schooling. Socialism provides both a private and public option. Everyone is giving an equal opportunity but money will help you get closer to what you want to do. Socialism focuses more on the individual but communism focuses on the community as a whole.

Book Review- Think and Grow Rich

This book is a compilation of success stories from some of the most successful people of all time told from a narrative point of view. The stories are grouped together to help get across a different point. The author claims that by reading this book and understanding the knowledge contained within, as well as being able to apply it, will make the reader successful with limited education.
It is definitely a book that takes a lot of time to read. You have to be attentive to pick up on the hidden point in each chapter and story. This isn't a difficult book to read but it takes quite a bit of analyzing to find the author's underlying message.
I wouldn't recommend this book just for something to read, but if you wanted to learn what is contained within it would be beneficial to read.

Raising Minimum Wage

According to rocklandtimes.com, raising minimum wage would hurt the people it's trying to help. Raising the minimum wage by 10% would cause a drop in employment of 2.5% in young white men without an education. This number is even higher for young black men, almost 6.5%. The hike in minimum wage would price first time workers out of a job. This makes it expensive to hire first time workers.

From salary.com, a higher minimum wage would be a burden on small businesses. This would lead to the businesses not being able to higher more employees which in turn would keep unemployment up.

Also raising minimum wage wouldn't be the only thing to raise. The employers would have to raise prices to help cover the increased minimum wage. So even if the minimum wage is the higher it would cost more for food and other services. Basically we would be where we are now, and it is already hard to find the current minimum wages. This is apparent through the prices we pay now. (Jeff Jacoby, Boston Globe Columist)

At this point in time I feel we shouldn't screw with minimum wage. Yeah, times are tough but raising the minimum wage would make them tougher. The politicians who swear that the higher wages would help are covering up the other pieces of information says rocklandtimes.com

Lemonade Stand Game

For the lemonade stand game, I found that my price per cup of lemonade is about 15 cents. I learned that variables in the game are the weather as well as the people. The constants are the recipe used. Lemons are the perishables. I got the basic concept of over heard pricing and what you need to please customers.
To find the price per cup I found out what went into one cup and priced it. Then when I had the price for sugar, lemons, ice, and the cups, I added the totals together.

Twenty Percent Time Progress

Upon special request by the bowling proprietor in Lovell, I have switched my project. The proprietor wants me to coach the youth bowling league and get four kids to a level where they can compete in USBC tournaments and leagues. She asked me to do this because I am a 190+ average bowler with many good series and games under my belt. As well as many USBC tournament appearances, and being on the all state team back to back years. The proprietor feels that I will be able to help these kids in ways the adults may not be able to. My goal is to get four kids ready for USBC leagues and tournaments. I will need to teach them bowling fundamentals as well as mental strategy. A long the way I want to convey knowledge I have gotten with experiences of my own and common knowledge in the sport.

Taxes in Panama

Making eighty thousand dollars may sound like a dream job, but how much are you really making after you're hit with taxes. I started out with the before mentioned eighty grand, but in Panama twenty five percent of the total income goes to income taxes. So by multiplying, eighty grand by .25 (the percent in decimal form) then subtracting the product (answer from multiplication problem). I end up with sixty grand. Still I pretty good haul, but then I am hit with a nine percent social security tax. So after multiplying six grand by .09 and subtracting the product from sixty grand I am down to 54,600 as a net pay. I can not find any other taxes.

Twenty percent project moving forward

Over all October was pretty successful, I manged to find several different stretches
, and exercises to help prepare the ucl for use. One difficulty I encountered that in the end will be difficult to overcome is the human condition. Because we are all different it will be hard to establish one set way to throw that won't injure the ligament. I am thinking that by the end of November I can have a device hunted down to help teach a generalized throwing motion. If I can't do this I might look into making one myself with the help of my doctor, and physical therapist. (If it is unknown, I have sustained an injury to my ucl that needed to be surgically repaired, hence the interest) December is still unclear, I need to see where November takes me.

Black Jack

Walking into class on Wednesday, Mr. Kapptie hands everyone a small stack of poker chips. We all sit down and start playing 21. We had to play a minimum of four hands. I felt that each hand I was dealt had potential. I played each hand up to sixteen or seventeen, but after that I felt staying was my best bet. I won some hands and lost but then I let emotion play in toward the end.

Buying Stocks

I chose to purchase Anheuser-Busch InBev. I believe that this stock will raise. This is because of the start of football season as well the World Series. Beer sales tend to be good around these times. Also Anheuser-Busch InBev, is the only publicly traded adult beverage company. Throughout time this company has stayed stable without too many dramatic dips or rises. I feel that this stock will rise two to four dollars. I don't think it will raise much more then that because it is a fairly expensive stock already.

Trading vs. Investing

Trading and investing are both ways to make money. The difference is the speed it happens and the commitment. Investing is long term and you have to have commitment to the stocks. Investments are usually steady and some pay dividends. The stocks usually aren't sold at a rapid rate. Trades however are short term. They are usually have a catalyst, or something that will cause the stock to rise dramatically, once the catalyst has happened the stock is sold at the new higher price making money.

Candy Stocks

All over the floor there is candy and Monopoly money. After scavenging all the loot I could manage, I start to see that the classroom is set up to mimic the stock floor. Chaos is the easiest way to explain this. People were scurrying everywhere buying and trading candy trying to get ahead. It makes you realize the stress these people go through everyday.

20% Project

For twenty percent time, I am working to find a way to prevent over hand throwing activity related injuries to the elbow mainly the ulnar collateral ligament. In September, I worked to find out how injuries to this ligament are caused. I discovered that injury happens, when there is increased vulgus stress placed on the ligament. By the end of October, I hope to have different exercises to help ready the elbow to handle the increased stress on the ligament. And if the injury is unavoidable, have better descriptions of the ways to repair the ligament.

Life After Highschool

After highschool, I want to finish my last year of Powell Legion baseball and explore options that come up with that. But if no options arise from baseball, I want to pursue a career in the automotive industry. I want to repair vehicles, make them faster, louder, more powerful. Casper College offers courses that would give me not only certification in the automotive industry, but an associates degree in applied science. For a new vehicle, I would like to have a Ram 1500 or 2500. If I could find between a 98 and a 07 would be ideal. It could be either gas or diesel. This type of vehicles can run a price tag of anywhere from $2000 to $35000.
To pay for schooling, housing, and vehicle, I feel I could apply my newly acquired knowledge in automotives, or try to get hired at the local bowling alley. I feel the bowling alley would work because of my highschool experience working in a bowling alley.
The cost of housing would be around $500 dollars a month. To help pay this, I have a friend who is also thinking about a career in vehicle repair, and we would split the rent. Although this period of life would be tough I feel it would pay off.
After college, my friend and I want to work in automotives and eventually open our own shop in either Sheridan, Gillette, or Casper.
